Trump endorses Netanyahu ahead of Israeli election
Summary
US President Donald Trump gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu his "complete and total endorsement" ahead of Israel's October 27 parliamentary election, nine days away. In a Truth Social post, Trump called Netanyahu "strong, brave, and brilliant" and said that if Israel chose another leader, the US would have to handle Iran itself, which he said he was not inclined to do. Netanyahu thanked Trump on X. Axios reports that Trump said he endorsed Netanyahu because of their good relationship and that Netanyahu's rival, Gadi Eisenkot, said Israeli voters would decide the election. Reports differ on polling: Axios says most polls show Netanyahu's coalition short of the 61 seats needed to govern, while Middle East Eye describes a deadlock between rival blocs.
