Summary

Michael Carrick is expected to remain in charge of Manchester United for Sunday's home Premier League match against Bournemouth, but his job is in the balance after two wins from 11 games this season, the club's poorest start since 1986. United have begun identifying possible replacements should the board decide on a change, and Unai Emery and Julian Nagelsmann have emerged as leading targets, though compensation could be an obstacle in Emery's case at Aston Villa. Carrick, 45, is due to hold his pre-game media conference on Friday, and BBC Sport asks whether he should leave captain Bruno Fernandes out of the Bournemouth game.
