Israeli police arrest 10 over West Bank settler attacks on Palestinians and Western visitors

Summary

Israeli police said they arrested 10 people over alleged settler attacks on Palestinians, a U.S. journalist and Western diplomats in the occupied West Bank. Police raided several locations across the territory and seized cars and potential evidence related to the attacks, but did not identify the suspects or specify their roles. Police also released video they say shows the arrests. The arrests came a day after settlers beat a Washington Post photographer, and settlers also attacked a convoy of European diplomats, including the French and Belgian consuls general in Jerusalem and a French mayor. The U.S. praised Israel for the arrests, even as more attacks on Palestinians continued to be reported. The arrests came during a spike in settler violence during the annual Palestinian olive harvest.
